Water Infrastructure

Reywat successfully completed a range of water infrastructure projects, including barrage gates, hoists, dam flood gates, and check dams. This collaboration enabled Reywat to develop a significant in-house capacity to design and implement water-regulating structures utilizing local craftsmanship. This approach not only offered a more sustainable solution but also significantly reduced construction costs and provided greater control over resources throughout the project’s implementation.

Reywat’s experience as a major subcontractor in back-to-back arrangements with international firms proved invaluable during the design and construction of irrigation schemes in Northern Afghanistan. These projects focused on enhancing water management and efficiency, including canal paving to reduce water wastage and minimize maintenance needs. The rehabilitation efforts included adding turnouts and metal gates to channel water easily to different farmland parcels, eliminating the need for manual flow management.

Additionally, the project improved community access and infrastructure by constructing 124 culverts in 19 villages, making it easier for residents to cross canals, and establishing 32 community access points to facilitate water collection for household use, particularly benefiting women. Through these efforts, Reywat demonstrated its capacity to implement effective, cost-efficient water management solutions that enhance local communities’ quality of life and promote sustainable development.
